The Australian Lung Foundation

In line with the Consititution TSANZ endeavours to support the aims and assist the activities of the Australian Lung Foundation (ALF).


The Australian Lung Foundation is a not-for-profit, public benevolent institution with medical and support group representation in every state and territory in Australia.

The ALF vision is to be a key agent of change in Australia by promoting the understanding, management and relief of lung disease, including facilitation of research and professional development.

Their mission is to assist the relief of people suffering from lung disease and promote lung health in Australia by:

    • Raising funds for the purpose of bestowing medical and scientific research awards;
    • Reducing the emotional and financial burden of lung disease in the community through patient and carer support;
    • Educating the community in lung health; and
    • Influencing public policy makers

Their goals are to improve the lung health of all Australians via:

    • Development in Australia of best practice guidelines;
    • Increased government support for respiratory health and science.
    • Ensuring continued and appropriate resourcing for health professionals working in the respiratory field.

 

Australian & New Zealand Society of Respiratory Science (ANZSRS) Inc

TSANZ financial members who are also financial members of ANZSRS currently enjoy a 25% reduction on their TSANZ fees.

Australian & New Zealand Society of Respiratory Science (ANZSRS) Inc. was formed in 1980 to serve the professional needs of scientists and technologists employed in clinical respiratory function laboratories. The members of the ANZSRS Inc. are drawn from all regions of Australia and New Zealand.
    The aims of the ANZSRS Inc. are:
    • To provide a forum for scientific and technical communications between members.
    • To advance the knowledge and practice of respiratory function measurement and respiratory physiology.
    • To promote excellence in respiratory function measurement.
    • To support and encourage training and education in respiratory function measurement.
    • To facilitate dialogue with other professional societies with common interests.

Each year the ANZSRS Inc. organises a two-day scientific meeting comprising presentations of research work performed by its members, invited lectures and educational sessions. It also includes joint sessions with the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.

 


The Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR)

All TSANZ financial members automatically become members of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology

The Asian Pacific Society of Respirology was established in 1986. The objectives of the Society are the advancement and promotion of knowledge of the respiratory system in health and disease. It strives to encourage research, improve clinical practice through teaching, increase awareness of health problems in the area and promote the exchange of knowledge among respirologists in the Asia Pacific region.
    The specific aims of the Society are:
    • Promoting and coordinating activities in the field of respiratory medicine
    • Fostering research activities in the field of respiratory medicine
    • Organizing and coordinating regular congresses and occasional meetings
    • Producing regular publications, including a newsletter, the Respiratory Research Review and Respirology, a journal of international repute.
