Terms of Reference
Strategies
- To identify limitations of knowledge regarding the process and outcome of medical care which substantially impair the effectiveness and efficiency of respiratory medical practice and to advise how such limitations can be redressed,
- In conjunction with Professional Standards Subcommittee (PSS) and Education and Research Subcommittee (ERS), be involved in preparation and/or review of clinical standards and suggest methods of evaluation.
- To provide the Executive with detailed reports as the basis for any representations to Government, Hospital Boards, etc, regarding resources needed for patient care, and for management and prevention of respiratory diseases.
- In conjunction with Professional Standards Subcommittee (PSS) and Education and Research Subcommittee (ERS), to advise on the nature, scope and standard of training programmes required to meet the needs of Advanced Trainees in Respiratory Medicine and the needs of the Specialty. This advice will be both in terms of the "quality" of practitioners needed, and the areas of expertise required, to meet the problems of respiratory disease in the community.
Membership
Minimum of six members, convened at least every four months by face-to-face or telephone conference. Additional members may also be co-opted from Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand membership as needed for specific projects.
