Joining TSANZ

Become part of a network of professionals working in respiratory and lung health clinical care and treatment, research, health promotion and advocacy. TSANZ members are leaders in their respective fields and their professional expertise sought to assist in the development of guidelines, training opportunities, furthering research and advocating for better lung health across Australia and New Zealand.

There are about 1300 TSANZ members (Dec 2012)  representing a range of professions including respiratory specialists, respiratory scientists, researchers, academics, nurses, physiotherapists, and others who work in and support lung health.

Applying to join the Society requires that you have a proposer and a seconder both of whom are Ordinary (currently financial) members of the Society. If you want help finding a proposer and seconder, contact the TSANZ Office. To become a TSANZ member, go to the home page of the TSANZ website and click on 'join now'.

Please note that your membership application may take up to two months to be finalised as your application needs to be endorsed by the TSANZ Board. TSANZ Board meetings are held approximately every two months.

Advantages of TSANZ membership

Special Interest Groups

Be part of a group of specialists furthering the development of new knowledge and practice in common disease areas, public health, research or professional group. TSANZ currently has 17 SIGs covering a range of topics.

Branch Meetings

Australia and NZ have branches that support the work of TSANZ on a local level. At least four meetings are held per year, including a branch annual scientific meeting where research and clinical practice achievements can be shared. Awards to support research on a state level are also available in most branches.

Awards and Fellowships

TSANZ has a range of research and career development awards available each year. The successful applicants are announced at the TSANZ Annual Scientific Meeting. These are a wonderful opportunity to support achievements in lung health.

Asia Pacific Society of Respirology Membership

TSANZ members are automatically members of the Asia Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR) and will receive the APSR professional journal Respirology eight times per year in hard and soft versions. TSANZ members also have access to member registration rates at the APSR Congress.

APSR members who are currently full members of the American Thoracic Society (ATS), are eligible for a 15% discount on their ATS standard full member fees.

Australia and New Zealand Society of Respiratory Science (ANZSRS)

TSANZ members who are also members of ANZSRS receive a 25% reduction in their TSANZ fees.

TSANZ Communications

The TSANZ issues a monthly e-news and one print newsletter (June) to help keep members informed of any events, meetings or opportunities relevant to members.
