Call for Expression of Interest: TSANZ Subcommittees Membership

Background

The TSANZ Sub-Committees welcome Expressions of Interest (EOI) for new membership. Sub-Committees seeking new members include:

  • Clinical Care and Resources Sub-Committee (CCRS)
  • Education and Training Sub-Committee (ETS)
  • Research Sub-Committee (RSC)
  • Professional Standards Sub-Committee (PSS)

The roles and responsibilities for each Sub-Committee are outlined below for applicants’ information.

Tenure

Each member of a Sub-Committee shall hold office for a term of two (2) years, but shall be eligible for re-appointment for a further term of two (2) years.

Eligibility Requirements

Members of all membership categories (Ordinary, Associate and Student) who are current in their membership fees may nominate themselves for a position in the Sub-Committee.

Appointment

Appointment to a position on a Sub-Committee is subject to Board approval. All applicants will be advised of the success or otherwise of their applications by the end of February 2016. The first meeting that new members will be invited to attend will be the face-to-face meetings scheduled at the 2016 ASM.

Application for Expression of Interest

All applications are to be submitted through the online system on the TSANZ website and shall consist of the following information:

  1. A brief description of your reason/s for wishing to join the Sub-Committee (100 word limit)
  2. A briefly description of what you can contribute to the Sub-Committee (150 word limit)
  3. Current Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Roles & Responsibilities

The Clinical Care and Resources Sub-Committee (CCRS) is responsible for: fostering best clinical care in Respiratory medicine by promoting and developing clinical guidelines and position papers that adhere to the highest standards of peak professional and government bodies. Please refer to the Terms of Reference (see below) for full details.

Members of CCRS must be prepared to:

  • Participate in CCRS teleconference meetings; frequency differs from time to time but at least at a frequency of three meetings within 12 months. One of the meetings will be face-to-face at the ASM, if attending the ASM.
  • Receive a high volume of emails coordinated through the TSANZ Office, requesting comment or consultation of clinical documents, occasionally on short notice.

The Research Sub-Committee (RSC) is responsible for: providing strategic direction, support, promotion and review of research activities, developing grants, fellowships and awards in order to foster high quality research within the Society. Please refer to the Terms of Reference (see below) for full details.

Members of RSC must be prepared to:

  • Participate in RSC teleconference meetings; frequency differs from time to time but at least four meetings within 12 months. One of the meetings will be face-to-face at the ASM, if attending the ASM.
  • Receive a high volume of emails from TSANZ Office surrounding awards and prompt assessment of applications is required.

The Education and Training Sub-Committee (ETS) is responsible for: advising the Board on matters relevant to Education and Training and initiating educational activities to enhance the professional development of members. The ETS is also responsible for organising the AT Course as part of the ASM. Please refer to the Terms of Reference (see below) for full details.

Members of ETS must be prepared to:

  • Participate in ETS teleconference meetings; frequency differs from time to time but at least 5 meetings annually. One of the meetings will be face-to-face at the ASM, if attending the ASM.
  • Respond to emails from the TSANZ Office for comments or consultations, occasionally on short notice.

The Professional Standards Sub-Committee (PSS) is responsible for: providing a strategic advice to the Board on issues relating to professional and ethical behaviour in the context of delivering respiratory health care in Australia and New Zealand and to develop and manage the TSANZ Respiratory Laboratory Accreditation Program. Members of PSS must be prepared to:

  • Participate in PSS teleconference meetings; frequency differs from time to time but at least 5 meetings annually. One on the meetings will be face-to-face at the ASM, if attending the ASM
  • Respond to emails from the TSANZ Office for comment or consultation, occasionally on short notice.
