Respiratory Function Laboratory Accreditation

Accrediting respiratory laboratories is the process whereby the professional standards and competence of a service are formally recognized by the TSANZ. Accreditation:

encourages appropriate standards of medical care and practice to ensure that a service operates to an agreed standard
formally recognizes services that achieve these standards
maintains the standards by consultation and advice rather than regulation.

Laboratories need to meet the TSANZ accreditation specifications in order to satisfy the RACP requirements as a training site for Advanced Training in Respiratory and /or Sleep Medicine. All enquiries about accreditation are to be addressed to the TSANZ Chief Executive Officer. Costs of accreditation include an application fee ($1,750 inc. GST) and a site visit fee ($2,850 inc. GST).

Accreditation of sleep laboratories is now undertaken by the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA). They can also be contacted about sleep facilities.
