Accreditation
Accreditation of a Respiratory Laboratory is the process whereby the professional standards and competence of a service is formally recognized by the TSANZ.
Accreditation of Sleep Laboratories is now wholly undertaken by the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA).
The purpose of Accreditation is
- to encourage appropriate standards of medical care and practice to ensure that a service operates of an agreed standard.
- to formally recognise to services that achieve these standards.
- to maintain the standards by consultation and advice rather than by regulation.
Laboratories need to meet the TSANZ accreditation specifications in order to satisfy the RACP requirements as a training site for Advanced Training in Respiratory and /or Sleep Medicine.
