Accreditation

Accreditation of a Respiratory Laboratory is the process whereby the professional standards and competence of a service is formally recognized by the TSANZ.

Accreditation of Sleep Laboratories is now wholly undertaken by the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA).

The purpose of Accreditation is

to encourage appropriate standards of medical care and practice to ensure that a service operates of an agreed standard.
to formally recognise to services that achieve these standards.
to maintain the standards by consultation and advice rather than by regulation.

Laboratories need to meet the TSANZ accreditation specifications in order to satisfy the RACP requirements as a training site for Advanced Training in Respiratory and /or Sleep Medicine.
