Dr Nick Coatsworth - Federal Deputy CMO
Dr Nick Coatsworth is one of Australia’s Deputy Chief Medical Officers. He is also the Executive Director of the Medical Services Group at Canberra Health Services. Nick held a key national role in the Australian response to COVID-19. Bringing together his skills as an infectious disease physician, a respiratory physician, a practitioner of disaster and humanitarian medicine, and high-level experience in health administration, Nick’s contribution provided a voice for frontline hospital staff in the national response to the pandemic. He became one of the most recognised medical spokespeople during the pandemic, engaging the Australian community through a variety of media platforms.

A/Prof Lou Irving - The Royal Melbourne Hospital
Lou Irving is Director of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at Royal Melbourne Hospital and Director of the Lung Tumour Stream at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. He has been involved in clinical research over many years and has published over 230 articles.

Ms Brigitte Borg - The Alfred
Brigitte Borg is an accredited clinical physiologist (respiratory) with 27 years’ experience. Brigitte works at The Alfred, Melbourne as Head, Physiology Service, Respiratory Medicine. Brigitte’s areas of interest in the field of respiratory medicine include lung function interpretation (for which she co-authored a book in 2014), laboratory accreditation, quality spirometry in primary care, and oxygen therapy.

Dr Forbes McGain - Western Health, University of Sydney and University of Melbourne
Forbes is an anaesthetist and intensive care physician at Western Health, Melbourne, Australia, and an Associate Professor (Medicine) at the University of Sydney, and the University of Melbourne.

He enjoys being involved in research, teaching and education at the hospital, university and beyond. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Forbes and mechanical engineers at the University of Melbourne collaboratively produced a personal isolation hood to reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission to healthcare workers. Forbes also remains passionate about making seemingly small environmental sustainability changes to how we practice medicine that become magnified through every nations’ hospitals.

Ms Ceri Banks - Peninsula Health
Ceri Banks is a Clinical Research Nurse Consultant at Peninsula Health in Melbourne. She is the coordinator of respiratory clinical trials and a Severe Asthma Clinic, managing patients undergoing bronchial thermoplasty and monoclonal therapy. She is a presenter for the National Asthma Council and co-convenor of the TSANZ Respiratory Nurses Group.
