These travel awards are made available to encourage eligible TSANZ members to attend and enrich the TSANZ Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) through discussion of their work and participation in the meeting.

There will be one award of AUD 1500 to support the career development of eligible TSANZ members who have not already received travel support for the TSANZ ASM 2020.

This award is available to nurses, physiotherapists and other allied health practitioners, with applications from early to mid-career professionals strongly encouraged.


  1. Be a current member of the TSANZ[1],
  2. Be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand,
  3. Committed to respiratory medicine and active in the following areas:
    a. demonstrates involvement in improving respiratory patient health outcomes,
    b. demonstrate leadership in respiratory care and
    c. a nurse or allied health professional specialising in respiratory health.
  4. Have excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health and science professionals.
  5. Not already receiving travel support to attend TSANZSRS 2019.

[1] Financial member of the TSANZ who has obtained the support of a proposer and seconder and has been endorsed by the TSANZ Board


The following conditions apply to this award:

  • The award must be used for the TSANZ ASM 2019.
  • Eligible individuals may receive the TSANZ ASM Travel Grant once every second year.


Applications will contain the following:

  • A signed letter addressing the eligibility criteria for this award (maximum one A4 page).
  • A track record (maximum two A4 pages). Include any significant career disruptions supporting eligibility outside the listed criteria.
  • All text must be submitted on A4 pages with a 2cm margin to the top, bottom, left and right. Text must be single line spaced, with size 12 Times New Roman font. No columns are permitted.

Selection Process

Applications will be assessed by members of the TSANZ Education and Training Subcommittee. Applications will be evaluated based on the benefit and career integration of attendance at the TSANZ ASM and the applicant’s track record relative to opportunity.
