Lung Foundation Australia and the Greenwood Family are proud to announce three (3) Travel Grants of up to $3,000/ grant for attendance at the forthcoming International Colloquium on Lung and Airway Fibrosis (ICLAF) 2018

These travel grants have been made possible through the generous donation of the Greenwood Family who in honour of their mother Eleanor, have first-hand experience of the devastating impact ILD has on families.

These travel grants are open to health professionals or researchers in Australia whose work is focused on improving the understanding of Interstitial Lung Disease.

Purpose of Travel Grant

Each travel grant aims to provide key health professionals/researchers in Australia who work with patients suffering from ILD or have research projects specific to ILD, the opportunity to attend an international conference.  This travel grant may be used to cover any or all of the following participant costs to attend the conference for which the Travel Grant has been awarded including:–

  • Return airfares
  • Accommodation for the duration of the conference
  • Travel costs (e.g. taxis, parking)
  • Daily incidentals and meals allowances not to exceed ATO allowances
  • Full Registration

Number of Grants available: 3 (three)

Eligibility

Three Travel Grants will be allocated for the 20th International Colloquium on Lung and Airway Fibrosis (ICLAF 2018) scheduled 14-18th October 2018 Pacific Grove California USA.

The applicant must be able to provide a signed letter of support from their employer or supervisor permitting and supporting their attendance at this particular conference. 

Selection Criteria and Conditions of Application

  1. The selection criteria for these travel grants are based upon merit, the value of the attendance by the applicant as an individual and to their organisation, the demonstrated need for this funding and the demonstrated assistance to patients with ILD by their attendance at the conference.  Extra weighting (30%) will apply to the scientific merit of an accepted Abstract (Oral or Poster) for the conference.
  2. All applicants must be members of both Lung Foundation Australia and Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ)
  3. Applicants will be assessed by an Independent Selection Committee.  Successful applicants will be notified as per the timelines listed in table below
  4. A recipient of a travel grant is required to travel directly to and from the conference.
  5. Applicants must outline in the application below the reasons for attendance and the need for this grant. This may include benefits of networking with peers, additional costs incurred, or being able to host/attend a meeting with a common interest in a specific area of ILD research such as clinical trials, new therapies or genetics.  The employer/supervisor must also provide benefits from an organisation perspective about the applicant needing the grant.

Upon return from the conference, the applicant must provide a half page summary of the benefits to attending the conference including any key learnings that may be implemented in patient care or for their research project and a registration badge as proof of attendance.
